Purchase of Wenoah Canoes

On 12/04/2011 VIA purchased two Wenoah canoes that will be used by the teams on events and to train two canoe instructors who will then go on to train others in the future. The first outing for both canoes will be during the upcoming VIA walk from Dover to Cape Wrath and then across to John o'Groats as part of the Union Flag Walks.

The canoes will be used where possible during the walk, along canals, lakes and lochs. VIA's Head Trainer, Paul Boag will be joining us in Scotland where he will do some skills training in the canoes and they will be used in the evenings when we are camped near any water for training with those taking part.

As the team will be walking along the canals, lakes and lochs, the canoes will be used where possible. They will also be used for the training of two Canoe Instructors that will be funded by VIA from the funds raised by all the Fundraising Teams. These Instructors will then start training all others who would like to learn to canoe from the veterans that VIA work with.
