Scott is another member of the VIA Team recruited from the Royal Engineers, he joined the RE's in 1979 and served a full 23 years before leaving as Warrant Officer Class One, he was born in Bury, a small town just outside of Manchester. From there he moved in his younger years to live in Washington, not far from Newcastle.
Leaving school with not much in the way of qualifications, he decided to join the Army. So at the tender age of 17 years old, he undertook basic training and then moved onto his first posting in Germany, the rest of his career was wide and varied, serving in many operational zones, from the 1st Gulf War to Afghanistan, and one very memorable trip for six months building a new scientific base for the scientists who discovered the hole in the ozone layer, on the Antarctic Ice Shelf a few hundred kilometres from the South Pole.
Upon leaving the Army Scott has been involved in running his own business as a Landscape Gardener, and now works for a large and multi skilled construction company in London. As the Group Health & Safety Manager, covering disciplines as Petroleum Forecourt builds, Demolition, Asbestos Removal, Specialised Basement Construction, Re-Enforced Concrete Frame Construction and Ground-Works. This is for many of the major construction companies in the UK, and some Global companies such as Shell and Total.
He is well qualified in his field, and will provide the necessary Health & Safety assistance to the Charity, he walks(when work commitments allow) with the teams on the weekends of the Union Flag Challenges, and regularly commits to raising funds in various ways for the Charity.
